Batman: Arkham City Won't Have Multiplayer

You read that correctly, Batman: Arkham City won't have multiplayer. Of any kind, none whatsoever. No co-op, no versus.

Despite the rumors that were circulating the Internet there will be no multiplayer aspect to Batman: Arkham City. It will instead be a finely crafted single player experience.

Sefton Hill, Arkham City director, explains the team's decision to not add multiplayer saying, "Our thought process behind this was fairly simple: when we investigated adding multiplayer we asked, 'If we use all of the energy that is required to create multiplayer and instead focus this on the single player, would that deliver a better overall game?'

With the game now coming to the final stages, I can honestly say it would not have been possible to deliver Arkham City the way we wanted to if we'd have added multiplayer."

He continues on to say that, "it might not be the fashionable choice, it might not get us an extra tick on the box, but we are convinced, and we hope that gamers will agree when they get to play the finished game, that we have made the right decision."

Without having played the game I can say that I'm glad they've made this decision. Too often do development teams waste their time trying to fill that check box, and too often does single player suffer because of it. So I'm glad that Rocksteady made that choice (the right choice to me), Arkham City will be a better game because of it.
