Batman: Arkham City Not Just Linear, Open World Too
Sefton Hill, director of Batman: Arkham City, was quoted in a interview with PSM3 saying, "We don't want to define Arkham City as an open world or linear experience. While the backbone is still the strong main narrative, there'll also be many character-driven sub-plots to reward gamers who explore the streets [of Arkham City]".

Batman: AA 2's Detective Mode To Be 'More Like Augment reality'
Batmam: Arkham Asylum art director, David Hego spoke at the Develop Conference in the UK saying he wanted "to cry a little bit" whenever he heard of someone playing the game entirely in detective mode. The detective mode adds useful information about enemy positions and other interactive parts of the environment. By using the mode the screen turns everything blue while highlighting enemies in red and interactive objects in yellow. Thus the player obscures the beautiful environments Hego and his team worked so hard to create.
