Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood Trophies Explained

Some sites were reporting that you'd be destroying modern machinery in Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood, but I am here to tell you they're wrong and what these trophies truly mean. [UPDATE: Now with achievements.]

The "Bang!", "Splash!", "Boom!", and "Kaboom!" trophies involve destroying a machine gun, naval cannon, bomber, and tank respectively. Some sites assumed this must mean the player is destroying modern versions of these machines, but as was previously unveiled in a trailer these are all machines created from Leonardo Da Vinci's plans. Of course, the game is not out yet so it is completely possible that some of these trophies are in reference to modern machines.

The "Technical Difficulties" and "Requiescat In Pace" trophies are both about completing sequences in Spain, which was confirmed in the latest developer diary.

The three most interesting trophies have to be "Sanctuary! Sanctuary!: Complete Present Sequence 1", ".. .- -- .- .-.. .. ...- .: Solve all of Subject 16's Puzzles", and "Mailer Daemon: Access your Email in the Present." All these trophies involve the present and suggest that there will be much more time spent playing in the present time than the previous games allowed for. To be fair, things like checking email were in the previous games and didn't require much of a time investment, but solving "all" of subject 16's puzzles could be much more time consuming. Update: The Xbox 360 achievements are now online and reveal some interesting information. The descriptions for the achievements are not the same as the PS3 trophies, which begs the question if one of the these lists is somewhat inaccurate. For example, the "Sanctuary! Sanctuary!" achievement is described with "Find a secure place to hide and re-enter the Animus." While the trophy suggested a much longer sequence, the achievement suggests a much shorter one. This is, of course, speculation on my part. Ultimately, we will have to wait for the game to see how much present day gameplay there is.
