Strategy Assassin's Creed Game In The Works?

It's no surprise that Ubisoft is making another Assassin's Creed game. They did say they were making a trilogy at the start of the first one, after all. But it somewhat surprising for them to be making a strategy Creed game. Ubisoft tweeted something that leads us to believe just that.

On December 21 they tweeted, "Ubisoft’s Massive studio teaming up on a project for Assassin's Creed. Openings to join them or at Ubisoft Annecy: http://ubi.li/un3a4". So why might this mean that Ubisoft is working on a strategy game set in the Assassin's Creed universe? Because Massive is the developer responsible for the World In Conflict series, based out of Sweden. Ubisoft Annecy also seems to be joining them on this work. Annecy developed the multiplayer for Brotherhood. This would make sense too as strategy games generally have a strong focus on multiplayer.

While this isn't solid proof, it is a good indication of where a future Assassin's Creed game might go. The Creed games have always been based around time periods of conflict. It shouldn't be too hard for them to add narrative reasons for assassins and Templars to be fighting on a massive scale.
