Assassin's Creed III Setting Revealed? UPDATED

This image was sent by a tipster, to VGHQ, claiming that it is a leaked image of the as of yet unannounced Assassin's Creed III.

There are a few important things to note about this image.

• One, there is no (TM) symbol on the Assassin's Creed III logo. 
• Two, the image is not consistent with previous AC art and imagery. AC had white and light blue as background colors, AC II had mostly white and AC: Brotherhood had mostly white and some blue. This goes off in a completely different direction with its dark brown. 
• Three, it's incredibly specific and revealing about the setting, something that Ubisoft has not historically been with the AC series (or game developers in general).
• Four, the III at the bottom is cut which seems like an attempt to hide something and is very sloppy which you wouldn't expect from a developer.

If I had to guess, this is fake. It's also not surprising that whoever made this chose the French Revolution as fans have speculated that that might be the next setting the series takes place.

UPDATE: I found the original image on the creators Deviantart page. Now we now why it was cropped. The creator, boup0quod, says, "I imagine the next Assassin's Creed during French Revolution at the end of the 18th century in Paris streets. I hope but i can't wait!"
