Arkham City Multiplayer Was A Possibility

Batman: Arkham City is a game that won't have multiplayer and with good reason-it doesn't need it. Marketing game manager, Dax Ginn expressed that the idea of multiplayer was taken into consideration and may be possible in the series' future.

He said, "We considered it pretty briefly." Rocksteady abandoned the idea because they felt it would lower the quality of the game. Ginn also added that, "[multiplayer] didn't really make a lot of sense for a game that is so single character-centric."

Ginn didn't want to confirm or deny whether there will be multiplayer in the series' future but he did explain that, "multiplayer is a super popular thing and online playability seems to be growing and something that people desire. So I can't say what's going to happen down the track but for Arkham City we're focused on the single-player experience."
