Batman: AA 2's Detective Mode To Be 'More Like Augment reality'

Batmam: Arkham Asylum art director, David Hego spoke at the Develop Conference in the UK saying he wanted "to cry a little bit" whenever he heard of someone playing the game entirely in detective mode. The detective mode adds useful information about enemy positions and other interactive parts of the environment. By using the mode the screen turns everything blue while highlighting enemies in red and interactive objects in yellow. Thus the player obscures the beautiful environments Hego and his team worked so hard to create.

He says, "It was a gameplay decision to make detective vision so strong…we're going to try not to do that mistake again." In the second game, Rocksteady Studios is thinking of making "it more like augmented reality next time." Hego also commented on the hyper-realistic characters and how that allowed them to bypass the uncanny valley, "One of the big advantages of the stylised realism was we were jumping across the uncanny valley… By making [the characters] so stylised, you can forget about uncanny valley because you accept that it's not real."

Batman: Arkham Asylum 2 has no firm ship date at this time.
