According to a report from Electronic Theatre, Splinter Cell Classic Trilogy HD will be based on the PS2 versions of each respective game as opposed to the superior PC version, as was previously confirmed. So is this classic trilogy truly based on the PS2 versions of the games?
Electronic Theatre base their opinion on a report from British Board of Film Classification (BBFC) which states, "SPLINTER CELL TRILOGY is a collection of the first three titles in the series of stealth-shooting games previously released on the PS2 console and now available on PS3. All three games see the player as part of a military special operations unit carrying out missions involving espionage, sabotage and eliminating enemies. The game was classified '15' for strong violence."
If you read closely you will notice that no where in that statement do they say that the trilogy is based on the PS2 versions. It does, however, say, "SPLINTER CELL TRILOGY is a collection of the first three titles in the series of stealth-shooting games previously released on the PS2 console..." The key phrase being previously released.
So does this mean that the trilogy will be based on PS2 versions? No, I don't think so, I believe it means that the trilogy will be contain games and those games may have been released on the PS2 along with other platforms. After all it has been confirmed for a long while ago now. Not to mention that the most recent screenshots look way too good ever have been on the PS2.
